Well, they're not really *mine* in that they don't have my genes or anything. But I am very proud to announce that I have 2, hopefully adorable, college children: a boy and a girl, and both are medics. My wife and I are so proud of them *sniff sniff* And we shall be sure to initiate them properly into the Downing way of things (whatever that may be). I'm a touch disappointed that they haven't been on the forums, but I'll live, it probably just means they have lives... On another note, I'm back from China now. I'm in China for 6 weeks...whoo hoo! Going to start another CHina Blog soon. Planning to watch some acupuncture, do some travelling, buy some stuff, and eat lots of food! Have already indulged in tofu and boiled 'hairy beans'...yum! Was writing an email to my boyfriend about why it managed to take me 4hrs to get from BJ airport to where I was staying (it should take 30mins). I think this sums it up: 1) Met this lovely girl on the plane who was travelling alone in China for the first time,a nd doesn't speak a word of China, and has no travel plans. Brave, and awesome. First year all finished at Uni. - it went so terribly fast; can't believe I've had 1/3 of my time as an undergrad. at Cambridge. And yet, I can't quite imagine life before this. Quick look over the year back, I guess I can say I have done ok; I've done well enough to proceed to next year, I've made some good friends, acquired a boyfriend, had some pretty amazing non-work experiences such as rowing. I've also learnt a bit about relationships (not the romantic kind!) between people - not to claim that I'm any more of a people-person now - but at least I'm starting to understand people a bit more, especially those close to me.
